Pallion shipyard is the last surviving - but mothballed - shipyard on the river Wear in Sunderland, UK. Still a modern facility (opened in 1976) when compared to many other working shipyards globally, it is currently slated for demolition which we completely oppose. Our aim is to stop this demolition and subsequent redevelopment under a potential, but as of yet unconfirmed, joint proposal between the existing Greek owners and the Labour majority run Sunderland City Council, so that its future can be opened up to companies wishing to enter the offshore & ship repair industry in the NE of England.

Due to its original design and layout, this facility could be utilised to undertake multiple works such as ship repair, maintenance, conversion and upgrade works. Primarily this would be for the offshore industry but this shipyard and its facilities could equally benefit the cargo, naval and large yacht sectors amongst others, to create a fully rounded business.
